JL Consulting was created in 2005, but Leslie had agriculture in her background long before that.  Leslie grew up on a feedlot  working  cattle, helping with the bookwork, and windrowing hay.  She worked at First National Bank in Omaha in the Co-Banks and Agri lending department all throughout college.   

 

Jake has followed his interest in agriculture since early in life.  He worked for a local farmer in high school and later worked  at a pivot dealership in Eastern Nebraska.  These interests eventually brought Jake and Leslie back to their hometown of Ord working at Hackel Cattle in the family business.   Jakes focus is on bunk management, cattle health, and cattle performance while Leslie’s focus is on feed records and billing. 

 

The idea for JL Consulting originated by the fact that Leslie’s family’s feedlot had to come into compliance with the DEQ requiring a permit and controls. His was one of the first in the county.   Leslie started doing his record keeping that pertained to all the DEQ regulations.  It quickly expanded to other facilities from there as few facility owners have the time to keep up with all the record keeping requirements, let alone all the new regulations that continue to come into law. 

 

In recent years Jakes involvement has grown.  His ability to interact with people, knowledge and passion for the industry has been vital for the growth of the business.
